Summary of FBC10 Balustrade channel test restults
Balustrades
Residential (excluding balconies)
• 10mm toughened can be used to a maximum height of 620mm in applications, where the Wind Load does not exceed 1.8KPa
•12mm toughened can be used to a maximum height of 840mm in applications where the Wind Load does not exceed 1.37KPa
• In applications requiring 1000mm high balustrade, 15mm toughened is to be used, but only to a maximum wind load of 1.12KPa Wind Load
Residential (including balconies)
• 10mm toughened can be used to a maximum height of 550mm in applications, where the Wind Load does not exceed 2.5KPa
•12mm toughened can be used to a maximum height of 740mm in applications where the Wind Load does not exceed 1.9KPa
• In applications requiring 1000mm high balustrade, 15mm toughened is to be used, but only to a maximum wind load of 1.37KPa Wind Load
Note 1:
The system is not recommended for use in any balustrade installations where fall on the other side is greater than 1 metre.
Note 2:
The above results have been generated by ARUP Facade Engineering. Physical testing has also been conducted by Compusoft Engineering in New Zealand. The results of both these are being collated in conjunction with the proposed changes listed in the latest draft of revisions for AS1288. |
